DESIGN SOLUTION
Programming , Master Planning, Design, and Construction Document preparation for this state-of-the-art
Emergency Communications facility for Montgomery County, MD. The ECC brings together Police, Fire, 911,
EMS, into a single high tech communications facility.
The ECC is the hub of the PS2000 $140,000,000 mobile data and radio system for the County. This new 800 Megahertz radio
communications system will vault the County into an integrated data and voice communication system. Due to development time
tables, it will be located in an existing 57,000 s.f. two-story suburban office building in Gaithersburg, Maryland completely
reconfigured and reengineered by SAA. Supported by full building emergency generation, UPS backpower, and diverse routing
fiber optic communications feeds, this facility will bring together all emergency services. SAA has planned the building
to accommodate the County's Transportation Management Center and the Emergency Operations both currently located in Rockville
at the Government Center, this facility will have the unique distinction of being the first fully integrated Communications
Services Center in the United States.
